THOMPSON APPOINTS SERVICE ENGINEER FOR ASIA

British friction welding machine manufacturer Thompson has boosted its operations in Asia with the appointment of a dedicated service engineer.

Sam Chen has joined Thompson’s office in Beijing and will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of Thompson machines across China. The 27-year-old has a degree in technology from Beijing Technology and Business University and previously worked for an American machine tool manufacturer.

Sam, who will work alongside Wencong He, Thompson’s sales representative in China, has spent several weeks on an induction programme at the company’s UK headquarters in Halesowen. His future role is likely to cover other countries in the Asia-Pacific region including Japan and Korea.

“I am pleased to become a part of the team and help the company expand its business in Asia. It has a very good reputation in China for producing high-quality machines,” said Sam.

Thompson has secured significant levels of new business in the Far East in recent months. It has produced a number of friction welding machines for manufacturers of a wide variety of components used in the aerospace, automotive, construction machine and oil exploration markets.
